Three and a half months of filling out forms, packing and traipsing around the countryside and we've finally arrived to our new home, Lihir Island PNG.

We got here last Wednesday after a bit of a convoluted trip up the eastern seaboard (melbourne, sydney, armidale, sydney, brisbane, cairns, rabaul, lihir).
Lots of good byes to lots of people. So thanks everyone for bearing with our John Farnham-style last goodbye tour. At times it felt like we'd never get up here.

And so far so good.
Straight into Anzac Day, PNG style (standing in the hot rain in the dark, watching the sun come up over the Pacific) and settling into island life. We're currently wading through customs paperwork to get our container unpacked.

Here are a couple of snaps of the view from our front deck. Not bad.

So far Ed is pretty happy with the whole situation (excuse the excess of skin showing- occupational hazard for an island baby).

Lots of new people to cuddle him and stuff to look at. We can't walk up the road without a few greetings of 'hello baby' from the locals and tickles on the feet and legs.

The humidity is absolutely knocking him out. I don't think he has been in the pram without falling asleep within a couple of minutes. Slightly paranoid about dehydration, so he's being fed more frequently than normal. So possibly expect to see a chunky fella appearing in photos sometime soon :)

Humidity = awesome baby pacifier.

So we'll keep you posted on our upcoming adventures, with lots of happy snaps, in the near future. Add us to your feed/subscribe/favourites if you want to see updates as they come, or browse here every now and then to see what we're getting up to. And feel free to comment, or email us if you want a bit more detail. And to keep us posted on what you guys are up to.
